4 applications of ChatGPT

ChatGPT’s User Interface

Introduction

ChatGPT is a large language model developed by the OpenAI team and has the ability to create human-like text. It is a subset of Natural language Processing (NLP) models, and these models work by analyzing a huge amount of text data and then feeding it to a computer which creates logically structured sentences. There have been many advances in the field of NLP since its start back in the 1950s, and all of these innovations have led to the different types of language models we have today. What differentiates ChatGPT from other NLP models developed by other companies is that ChatGPT can create text so well that humans wouldn’t know that it was created by a computer. This is why many big tech companies are investing billions of dollars into this technology. Microsoft just recently announced in a blog post that it is going to work with OpenAI in integrating ChatGPT to its product, like Azure services. With this much investment and attention coming into ChatGPT, a lot of people and companies are exploring different ways to use ChatGPT. This is why learning the basics of how these technologies work is important. The section below will explore 4 ChatGPT applications that are going to revolutionize the way things are done.

4 applications of ChatGPT

  1. Customer support
  2. Learning tool
  3. Chatbots
  4. Automated solutions

Customer support

Companies are always trying to serve their customers in the best way possible. This usually means giving them a quick and accurate response, which can be tricky at times. On top of that, it has to do this in a cost efficient way. With ChatGPT, businesses can solve these concerns and deliver the best experience possible to the customer. This technology can do so by giving customers a fast and accurate response without the need of any human involvement. Some executives are already considering ways to add ChatGPT to their customer support system. However, there are many business leaders who warn against jumping in too soon on this technology, and advise to not use it for anything important right now, since it has the possibility of giving users incorrect information.

Learning tool

Another interesting use case of ChatGPT is in the education sector. Teachers are using ChatPGT as a tool in their lessons. For example, ChatGPT can be used to make difficult sentences easier to read for younger students. It can also be used to generate ideas or sentence starters. Another way they are using this is to check the essay made by students for grammar or vocabulary errors. These are the reasons why some educators find that using ChatGPT makes their jobs easier. However, the majority of teachers are concerned that students will it inappropriately by using it to write essays for them. Some school districts are already banning the use of this technology in schools. This is why a lot of developers are working on creating sophisticated plagiarism detectors. Just recently, an app called GPTZero was developed to detect whether a piece of writing is made by ChatGPT or humans. This was a great relief for teachers who are uneasy with the idea of their students using ChatGPT for their .

Chatbots

Corporations use AI chatbot for various purposes, one of them is in automating interaction with customers. You can usually find them being used in banks, insurers, media companies and airline companies. Other applications include using it as an internal part of the company, typically to resolve internal queries. Most times, you will be able to tell that you are talking to a bot, without being explicitly told that it’s a robot. This is because the messages that you receive don’t feel like they are written by a human. With the arrival of ChatGPT, the line between what’s written by humans and bots is getting blurry. The Turing test, which is used to measure a machine’s ability to exhibit behavior indistinguishable from a human, has not been formally used on ChatGPT, but there are many anecdotal reports of people who can’t tell apart a text written by ChatGPT or human.

Automated solutions

ChatGPT can also be used to provide automated solutions by answering questions, generating text and completing tasks. Some companies, like KoKo, have already begun using ChatGPT as part of their business. The co-found of KoKo also said that it has used GPT-3 chatbot, the predecessor of ChatGPT, to develop responses to 4,000 users. He also noted how easy it is to use it to create effective and efficient responses. If you are already considering using ChatGPT for your work or business, keep in mind that it doesn’t always provide you with 100% factually correct information. So, if you know how to develop a language model, you can modify the training data given to ChatGPT and fine tune it to give you better output for your specific needs. This is done through a process known as reinforcement learning. Note that the code for ChatGPT is not publicly available, but OpenAI has made a smaller version of GPT-3 available, called the GPT-3 Sandbox in Github. ChatGPT can even be used to write code and debug them, based on the prompt that was given

What does it mean for you?

ChatGPT can be used for a variety of things. As the OpenAI team grows and more people are interested in this product, there will be more use cases in the future that we have not seen today. The points above are only a few ways that ChatGPT is being used today but it would be interesting to see how different people are going to use the product. Interest in artificial intelligence keeps growing, this is why if you are a working professional, you might want to consider learning it. Our Education Ecosystem provides you with the necessary resources you need to start learning the basics of AI by taking projects that are practical. If you are interested in the NLP field, you can take an NLP course here. Don’t be overwhelmed if you think this is too technical. We also have courses that are beginner friendly that will teach you the basics of programming.

Conclusion

The technology we use is constantly changing. Whether it be in blockchain, artificial intelligence, robotics or healthcare, advancements are always being made. This is why we think it is important for you to pick up a skill that suits your interest and abilities. ChatGPT is considered to be a milestone in artificial intelligence. More improvements will come to ChatGPT, especially now that big tech companies are investing in it and are looking to integrate it to their current suite of products. With every new technology, there are going to be valid concerns. For example, students are already using ChatGPT to cheat on the assignments given to them. There are also going to be bad actors who will find ways to use ChatGPT to their advantage. Like it or not, artificial intelligence is only going to get better and is here to stay.
